On Sunday morning, police shifted the body of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique to Cooper Hospital, part of the Mumbai municipal corporation, for a postmortem. Siddique, 66, was fatally shot by three attackers in Mumbai on Saturday.

The shooting took place as Siddique was leaving his son, MLA Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Bandra East and entering his car.

Siddiqui never lost touch with his Bihar roots. In 2018, he visited his ancestral village in Bihar and spoke proudly of his connections with the state.

Siddique's murder left the political fraternity shocked and grieved, with Deputy Maharashtra Chief Minister Ajit Pawar promising strict action.

Throughout his political career, Siddique’s iftar parties became a hallmark of his influence, bringing together political leaders from various parties, Bollywood celebrities, and prominent business figures.
